Irrawaddy River & Printemps Birman
Isabelle HA EAV
Irrawaddy River Located in Burma, the Irrawaddy and the Salween are the two last free rivers in Asia; that is without barriers. In 2018, Isabelle Ha Eav crossed the Irrawaddy from the north to the south of the country. The river, now in serious danger, appears through several surviving faces; from nomadic fishermen to the wild mangrove. Printemps Birman is a collective work published by Héliotropismes, co-edited by Isabelle Ha Eav and Mayco Naing. It presents 14 Burmese and Rohingya poets and 6 photographers, all of them exiled, jailed or murdered by the military following the February 2021 coup.
