An Eternal Wasteland

Mathis CLODIC

Between 2009 and 2015, Mathis Clodic spent over 4,000 hours on Modern Warfare 2, a first-person shooter that marked a generation, but is now obsolete. With a nostalgic eye, he now explores the abandoned landscapes of this digital universe. Presented as a project in progress, An Eternal Wasteland brings together a collection of images and videos where different artistic influences intersect. In this deserted videogame space, the game becomes a place of meditation, where the viewer is invited to rediscover virtual spaces with a strange temporality. An Eternal Wasteland explores a territory awaiting activation, offering a reflection on the strange process of eternization at work in the ruins of certain virtual worlds.
