Gypsy Witches
Silvia PRIÓ
Gypsy Witches presents, from a contemporary perspective, a poetic vision of the magical world of Gypsy women who, for centuries, have been the owners of the lineage of the art of clairvoyance. Searching for the connections of the concept of magic in this traditional world, with that of the new forms of communication in our current world. The project questions the universality of rational thought and acts as a loudspeaker for a marginal feminism.
“Legend has it that Gypsies come from Agartha, an underground, magical and inaccessible region in the depths of the earth. They returned to this world possessing the mystery of omens according to the cards, the magical knowledge of herbs and palmistry. I crossed all of Romania by train to the border of Moldova in search of knowledge of the occult sciences. It was the Witches who showed me that I had indeed embarked on a journey to discover that magic lives in each one of us.“
